Briff synopsis ( season 1 ):
“Breaking” is a futuristic thriller set in 2115, when humanity has survived pandemics and resource wars that wiped out half the population. From the ashes, a new order arose: a universal vaccine made people immune, while a centralized blockchain system took over the world’s economy and politics. Paper money vanished. So did freedom.
But not everyone is willing to live in this digital prison. The resistance, known as the Free Society, led by Max Gray and his brilliant ally, hacker John Deft, seeks to shatter the blockchain system they see as humanity’s new chains. Their impossible mission: seize control of every node and computer on Earth.
Amid the struggle, John discovers an unseen hand guiding their raids. The trail leads to Tony Morris, a scientist who vanished in 2020 during the secret NanoGen Project, a fusion of biology and technology. Hidden across blockchain networks, NanoGen holds the power to rewrite humanity itself.
The criminal underworld, long unified under the iron rule of the ruthless Mafia boss Kim, also hunts NanoGen. To break John, Kim takes his wife and son hostage, forcing him to play a double game: find the project’s creator—or watch his family die.
John turns to Philip, a former cop scarred by the mafia’s violence, now running an orphanage. His contacts and grief make him a dangerous ally.
The hunt for NanoGen spirals into a deadly triangle: the Free Society, the Mafia, and the Secret Intelligence Service, each willing to use blackmail, betrayal, and murder to win.
All paths lead to Philip’s orphanage, where the truth is revealed: the key to NanoGen may demand the annihilation of all humanity. In this world, there is no right choice—only the cost one is willing to pay.
